Escrow Policy

Escrow Policy

How it works

  1. A tenant pays rent plus the service fee through Paystack.
  2. Funds are held in escrow by Search Ghana — not paid to the landlord yet.
  3. The tenant moves in and confirms this in their dashboard.
  4. A waiting period (currently set by the platform, shown in your booking) begins.
  5. If no dispute is raised, funds are automatically released: the platform commission is deducted, an agent commission is deducted if the listing was agent-listed, and the remaining balance is paid out to the landlord's Mobile Money number.

If something goes wrong

Either party can contact Search Ghana during the waiting period to raise a dispute. This freezes the escrow hold — no funds move until a Super Admin reviews the situation and decides to release, partially release, or refund.

After release

Once escrow is released and payout is issued, the transaction is complete and cannot be reversed through the platform.

This page was drafted by Search Ghana to describe how the platform actually works. It is provided as a starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer — have it checked against current Ghanaian law before relying on it as a binding legal document.
