Data Protection Policy
Data Protection Policy
Search Ghana processes personal data as a data controller under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of the Republic of Ghana.
Principles we follow
- Purpose limitation: we collect only the data needed to operate the marketplace (accounts, listings, bookings, payments).
- Data minimization: payment card and Mobile Money PIN details are never stored by us — they're handled directly by Paystack.
- Security: passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text; access to personal data is restricted by role (a Verification Officer, for example, does not have the same data access as a Finance Officer).
- Retention: account and transaction data is retained as long as needed for the service and to meet legal/financial record-keeping obligations.
Your rights as a data subject
Under Act 843, you have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, and request deletion of your account, subject to any records we're legally required to keep (e.g. transaction history).
